Mini Camp at Camp Chief Ouray is a 3-day/2-night experience in the Rocky Mountains. Campers will get a chance to try many different activities that help them identify with a certain part of camp, whether it is the cabins and making new friends (10:2 ratio campers:staff) or the activities offered during this short week. This will help build their confidence in staying at camp, and also build the parent’s confidence in having their child away from home.
The campers will be under the watchful eye of our counselors who are all 18 or older. Each staff member is background checked (fingerprinted, FBI/CBI, Trails, Sex Offender Search), receives 10 days of intensive training for working with different age groups and goes through child abuse prevention trainings through Darkness to Light, The Redwoods Group and Praesidium.
Some of the activities your camper may do are:
Arts & Crafts
We strive to ensure that every Camp Chief Ouray camper has an impactful experience. We offer scholarships to help make the experience affordable for all families.
Mission: YMCA of the Rockies puts Christian principles into practice through programs, staff and facilities in an environment that builds a healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
Our goal is to offer challenging experiences to build leaders through life-long skill development in a safe, imaginative, natural setting. We instill confidence through independence and interpersonal skills. We challenge our campers to discover their true selves.
