DISCOVERING THE WORLD
Camp Chief Ouray has been fortunate to offer exciting multi-week trips around the globe! Each trip is a little different depending on the country, but they all involve interaction with local campers who can share ideas and teach about their cultures. We also look for ways to give back to our hosts in either service or teaching of new activities.
These trips are for campers ages 15-18 and involve an interview process before being accepted. Tickets, travel/medical insurance, program, food, and lodging are all included in the cost of the trip. Passport and Visas are not included in the costs.
The campers will be under the watchful eye of our counselors who are all 21 or older. Each staff member has a minimum of Wilderness First Aid, is background checked (fingerprinted, FBI/CBI, Trails, Sex Offender Search), receives 17 days of intensive training for working with different age groups and goes through child abuse prevention trainings through Darkness to Light, The Redwoods Group and Praesidium. We also do our best to select staff with international travel and camp counseling experience.
We strive to ensure that every Camp Chief Ouray camper has an impactful experience. We offer scholarships to help make the experience affordable for all families.
